AAM’s Media Intelligence Center is the industry’s database housing verified cross-media data for hundreds of media companies. Media buyers rely on this database to find trusted, accurate audience data while publishers use the tool for competitive analyses.
We spoke with several Media Intelligence Center power users to learn their top tips to help media buyers and publishers easily access the data quickly and efficiently.
Use Analyzer Tools to Compare Multiple Publishers Over Time
Media Intelligence Center power users access the News Media Analyzer and Periodical Analyzer tools to perform in-depth data analyses including multi-title comparisons, print and digital subscription analyses, distribution by market, geography and more. Users can select current or historical reporting periods, compare specific publications, and export in Excel for deeper analysis.
Apply Filters to Narrow Your Publisher Search
The Media Intelligence Center also offers several filters on the left side of the screen to narrow your search based on common criteria such as:
- Media type: Filter titles by news media, magazine, B2B, farm and interactive.
- Cross-Media: Find publishers that report additional digital metrics such as newsletters, social media, websites, apps and more.
- Circulation Size: Locate media partners based on total circulation size. Select from preset ranges or specify your own.
- Market Search: Filter media partners by distribution within a geographic area including state/province for news and farm media or DMA and CBSA designation for news and magazine media that participate in AAM’s Supplemental Data Report.
- SRDS Classification: Narrow your search by SRDS category for U.S. magazines, farm and business publications. This helps buyers find niche audiences most relevant to their campaigns.
Find News Media Distribution by ZIP Code
Distribution by ZIP code is one of the most sought-after datasets for media buyers to target specific markets.
Enter ZIP codes in the search bar to find news media distributed in specific areas. Then perform further analysis using the News Media Analyzer.
Access the News Media Analyzer for ZIP code data when you need to:
- Find the most recent ZIP code data
- Easily sort and filter data in Excel
- Compare and analyze data for multiple publications
- Include historical data in your analysis
Another way to access ZIP code data is through the Distribution Map. This easy-to-use heat map displays newspaper ZIP code data in the Brand View profiles of U.S. news media clients. Users can hover over the map to view circulation in various ZIP codes or click on areas to aggregate total circulation for several ZIP codes. Use the Distribution Map to access ZIP code data when you need:
- A quick visual of circulation or household coverage without having to sort through large datasets
- An interactive, visual representation of a publication’s most recent distribution that can be filtered, exported and saved
